integrativePSYCHOTHERAPY

There are many different types of therapy and many different kinds of therapists.

We provide a range of well-established psychological therapies including person-centred counselling, psychodynamic psychotherapy and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). Very brief definitions of these are set out below:

  • Person-centred counselling: A supportive, non-judgemental environment is provided in which the client can explore their experiences, thoughts and feelings, gain new perspectives on issues and develop their own solutions to problems.
  • Psychodynamic psychotherapy: Together the client and therapist may explore the client's past and think about how events from the past may be shaping current behaviour.
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT): The therapist helps the client to identify unhelpful or destructive thoughts and behaviours and to use practical tools to challenge problematic thought patterns and change behaviour. CBT is about changing the way a person thinks or behaves.

Some clients benefit from just one of these types of therapy while others respond better to a combination of counselling approaches. Everyone's life experiences are unique and our approach allows therapy to evolve in response to each client's specific needs.

Therapy begins with an initial consultation. This first meeting lasts about an hour and provides space to discuss specific hopes from therapy and to address any concerns about the therapy process. We can usually see new clients within one week of getting in touch with us, for this first appointment.

Our work relies on a healthy, therapeutic relationship between client and therapist, based on trust. We never judge our clients. We do not judge personal choices or past experiences. The bonds we form with our clients are the foundation of our work and an essential part of therapy.

We provide both long and short-term therapy. Male and female therapists are available.

If you would like to speak to one of our therapists about personal therapy or couples counselling, please contact us.
